Beginning this new enterprise is exciting and thought provoking. I'm setting in motion a process in which I reach out to people to assist them with a challenge they are facing where one step leads to another, to another and so on. There will be consequences, seen or unseen, that will affect many others, rippling outwards, a perfect image of how connected we all are.

The image of a stone skimming over the water in a series of steps, each one sending out its ripples is the one I have used to theme the design of my webpage. It symbolizes what hypnotherapy means to me: choosing a method, like selecting the perfect stone to skim, the shape that fits your hand; aiming it towards the depths of the unconscious to make it skip across its surface, like new thoughts or perspectives; and the changes that happen as their effects ripple outwards, connecting us all.

The language of the unconscious mind is one of symbols. Shortcuts to concepts that take many words to explain but the unconscious just knows, like a feeling, or a dream. The unconscious contains the answers, the solutions that we are looking for. We just need to speak to it in the language it understands. Like choosing the right pebble for the right message. One that the conscious mind will let through. This is the purpose of hypnotherapy, distracting the busy waking mind to access the source of who you are and the power of the light within.
